Netflix was reportedly not interested in acquiring CBS or CNN. Instead, its focus was on acquiring Warner Bros., and it sought to exclude those assets from the transaction, even though Paramount was willing to pay more for the entire package.

To navigate potential FTC concerns, Netflix's CEO allegedly held a private meeting with President Trump, during which they discussed Trump's criticisms of progressive programming. According to this view, Netflix secured Trump's support for the acquisition.

Netflix is also known for maintaining strict confidentiality around compensation, which critics argue helps keep salaries for content creators and performers lower than they might otherwise be.

Prior to the deal, Paramount canceled Colbert. The company's leadership, including both the CEO and his father, has been outspoken about shifting programming in a more conservative direction.

Critics further contend that management brought in a "hatchet person" to gradually remove producers and anchors from 60 Minutes, allowing the controversy to remain in the news cycle over an extended period. There has also been speculation that Paramount could pursue high-profile personalities such as Joe Rogan for an anchor role.

In addition, the company has suggested expanding the use of AI in content production and operations. Some observers interpret these comments as preparation for significant workforce reductions and broader cost-cutting measures.
