It’s the beautiful game!
Can somebody explain why the player who is fouled doesn't take the penalty shot?
Think of it as a technical foul. Ordinary fouls just award a free kick, but in the penalty box it is egregious so it has to be penalized- hence the penalty shot. (Although a free kick can be taken by any player too.
Can somebody explain to me why they can't put the exact time remaining on the scoreboard letting the ref add more time in the game if the team he bet on losing?.
Why can’t the Prisoner tell #2 why he resigned? Because that would be telling!
Also in most Leagues they do show the extra time, although this can be extended slightly if there are delays in play for injury, goals scored or tome wasting.
I understand the worldwide popularity but I've got better things to do than watch some guys run around and kick a ball for an hour and a half and score maybe once or twice.
Thing is they are playing continuously for 90 minutes. A baseball game can be 1-0 and thrilling. In the case of football there is no pause, no pitcher standing around, no changing positions, no manager walking to the mound every minute mattes. Games take less than 2 hours (some cup matches excepted). I found that I could get up, watch a 7am game with a bunch of friends and still take my kids to baseball games, volleyball games, practices, lessons etc. Mostly getting home before they got up.
