Saying that a person is not qualified to comment on a specific topic because of what they've done before is a far cry from claiming that one has to have done something worthwhile before they can open their mouths.

FWIW, his post was pretty on the spot regardless of what he thought about *his dad's* chances in the election. (I hope you are able to relate to the fact that a person may not be entirely objective about realistically assessing their high-achievement father's capabilities for emotional reasons -- I'd like to think you are not *that* removed from the way we, the ordinary fallible souls out there, go about living in this world.)
