Voting in this county is generally a binary choice. You can realistically vote for A or vote for B, because all the other choices have no shot.

So to get my vote, all the Republican Party has to do is run a better candidate than their opponents, which on the national level at times hasn’t been that high a bar but one which they constantly fail.

At the state level or congressional level they used to field better candidates and I voted for Republican candidates several times. Candidates who were pro-reproductive rights, who weren’t xenophobic authoritarians, who were socially liberal but fiscally more conservative. I even voted for GOP senatorial candidates. Now even the rump of California republicans grovel to Trump to appeal for the MAGA base and they end up with cretins and election deniers like Hilton.
