moral conflict with an extremely high stakes one and to be sure, the stakes matter, big time. There are things you can chalk up to "nobody's perfect" especially if you have no particular interest in people's sexual morality. And the awareness of the power dynamics in a sexual relationship had not fully penetrated most people's moral calculus yet. And gay rights were still a marginally recognized. And neoliberalism was embraced by the whole party as a way to maneuver around Republican dominance in politics. All of which, by the way, have been massively re-evaluated since then. I doubt that you will find too many people who would be defendiong Clinton's acts or policies had they been happening today. The history of the Democratic party has giuven us a few solid examples of moral purity tests with prominent political figures that you don't see coming from Republicans at all.
I understand the urge to pin at least something on liberals because the road to (often self-perceived) political respectability goes through being as even-handed as possible, but seriously … you're way off the mark on this one.
Personally, as much as I deeply dislike both Clintons, the hypocrisy you're implying here is at least two or three orders of magnitude apart from one another. They are not even on the same scale.
