Born on the Aegean coast of Anatolia. An area that used to be a lovely spot for vacation back in the day. Probably massively spoiled by tourism at this point.
We know that all the way back in the Bronze Age, which ended in the 12th century BC, there were all sorts of interaction between people who lived in the area between Southern Greece at the western end, Egypt in the southern end (which in turn was in constant back and forth with Nubia to its south), and Mesopotamia to western Iran at the eastern end. They traded goods, alphabets, ways of doing things, and I'm sure, there were people who moved back and forth a lot because passports and borders were not invented yet.
Homer steps on the stage in 8th century BC, still 500 years before Alexander the Great, and about 700 years before Rome comes to Greece and starts adopting Greek culture wholesale, which leads to the later European societies and intelligentsia deciding that since their intellectual lineage traces back to Greece by way of Rome, people who have always lived, like, at the tipppy tip of their beloved land mass (which they believe gives them license to feel superior to everyone else), and never mind the whole bunch of them living on the other coast of the sea they constantly sailed, must have looked Germanic. So Brad Pitt and viking ships? Accurate. Lupita Nyong'o? Woke.
Claiming that Greeks were all white people that looked like Vikings is no less ridiculous than white hippy Jesus (shout out to DSC who picked up on that immediately) or supposed immigrants who are said to have Vietnamese last names (allegedly) who gradually drifted into MAGA im their twilight years because reasons and declared themselves honorary jews just to say vile things to rile people up.
