Pennsylvania State House district 12 is *not* friendly turf for Democratic candidates. It is in exurban Pittsburgh (Butler County to be precise) and has been a red redoubt for at least 40 years. This district is a Trump +18 seat overall and only ONE precinct went for MVP Harris in 2024.
Our candidate, Brandon Dukes, won the district tonight by a small 0.52% (88 vote) margin! The is the sixth flip from Democratic to Republican in a special election this year with not a single Democratic to GOP flip. That pattern builds off of the clean sweep in state legislative flips last year as well.
