The Trump admin "leaked" a story to their favorite Axios reporter that claimed as much as 10 million barrels a day were being escorted through a "secret" passage by the US military. Trump had claimed something similar before but this time they leaked it directly to Axios who reported it. Then CNN and others picked it up and started reporting it and oil prices started dropping.
Turns out they just lied, Tanker Tracker and others say while it's possible for them to get SOME oil through undetected the reality is what the admin claims is happening doesn't even remotely match up to what the actual oil market is seeing. They're claiming well over double the oil the market is seeing is coming through. There absolutely IS oil getting through the Oman side with the US military helping, but it's NOWHERE near what the admin is claiming, they just lied to make oil prices come down.
Oil is up today for 2 reasons, Trump threatened to bomb Iran again, a day after announcing his brilliant monetary pressure, and because multiple experts who actually track oil called out the lie by the admin.
