Laughter erupted on MS NOW Wednesday morning as news broke two Republican Dan Sullivans — one endorsed by a fellow Dan Sullivan — would compete for a single Senate seat in a charade that could cost the GOP its control of the chamber.
Dan J. Sullivan, a retired teacher running for the seat occupied by Republican Senator Dan S. Sullivan of Alaska, has won a spot on the general-election ballot on Tuesday, possibly paving the way for ex-Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK) to swipe a seat Republicans can’t afford to lose.
With co-host Willie Geist stating the Sullivan confusion could lead to votes being “siphoned” off from the incumbent, Jonathan Lemire claimed there was an “important update.”

“The senator, Dan Sullivan, the incumbent, Dan Sullivan, just picked up an endorsement from the former mayor of Anchorage, whose name is, I kid you not, Dan Sullivan,” he reported to laughter.
“No, no, no!” Geist exclaimed over the off-screen laughter.
“Yesterday, former Anchorage mayor, Republican Dan Sullivan has weighed in with his endorsement of Senator Dan Sullivan, which is hysterical,” Lemire pressed on over more laughter. “Points to a lack of names, I guess, in Alaska.”
