. . . the leading candidate is a loathsome, bigoted, bullying degenerate that nobody calls out hoping he'll do the job of taking out all the other candidates and then, when it gets down to the last two, counting on the voters to reject the deplorable--but by then they've totally normalized the jerk and he wins.
