WSJ says tech companies and CEO's are "trying to get right with god" by trying to get on the good side of Dems if they donated to or were complicit with trump. MEta and others are going so far as to having meetings and discussions on what to expect and how to deal with it. They fully expect to get investigated over what they did if it was illegal, and some of it was. Some of them are donating to Dems, some of them are just trying to get on the good side hoping to be hit less hard, some of them are attempting to go further and see if they can actually help Dems win in exchange for some sort of clemency.
Elon of course is NOT one of them. Elon met with Mike Johnson, they discussed Elon's spending, over 100 million pledged with possibly more on the way. The problem is Elon has gotten very toxic, DOGE was an abject fraud, lots of people hate him not just Dems, so there's actually some GOP folks who don't want to take money from him.
