Again on CNBC with a MAGA adjacent interviewer he starts raving about how all the earnings reports are so good, revenue is way up due to the economy.
and then the reporter says well isn't that mainly due to all the companies getting refunds on the tariffs that were ruled illegal by SCOTUS?
You could see Bessents eyes realizing hey she is smarter than I thought and then he tried to spin it without admitting that yes the reason so many companies have record earnings is the refunds are counted as revenue.
She then reminded him that those tariffs were largely paid by the customers not the companies.
