Another cruelty is the point. after days of lying about it the Trump admin is literally cutting down cherry trees gifted to the US ages ago by Japan. At one point they claimed Biden did it in 2024, he actually relocated trees so they could reinforce a seawall, those trees were all replanted. Trumps admin then claimed they too were reinforcing a seawall, except they're doing it at the 14th hold of the public golf course he's renovating. And now we know why he decided to do it, so he could cut down the cherry trees and piss people off.
As with everything else by the time people realized what was actually going on it was too late to stop him they've already cut down dozens of them.
