So Trump met with a Brazilian bazillionaire and suspended the 29% tariff on imported beef?

From the article:
"Trump in a social media post Friday announced the suspension on ground beef tariffs, saying it would be for 90 days and would allow up to 300,000 metric tons of product for ground beef to be imported at a 25 percent discount below market price."

According to AI: "Building up a herd of beef cattle—not just raising a single steer—typically takes 3 to 7 years, depending on how fast you grow your cow‑calf base, how many heifers you retain, and how aggressively you expand. Individual animals reach slaughter weight in 18–24 months, but herd building is a multi‑year reproductive process."

So Trump's plan is a band aid that fall's off in 90 days. That doesn't fix the underlying problem. Cattle ranching is a risky business. Imagine you're working for a company that might pay you in 18-24 months, with no assurances there will be enough money, after costs are deducted, to pay you what you expected or hoped for.

Americans are protein freaks. Maybe it's time to add soylent green as another source.
