Even worse than the old "to stop the bad guy with a gun, you need a good guy with a gun" trope. Same level of sophistication at the surface, intended to benefit the purvyirs of the problem in exactly the same way underneath.
You wanna stop a bad AI? Pull the friggin' plug.
There was a video I watched long ago discussing why putting an off button on AI won't work. (The basic point was, it wouldn't allow you push the button because that would stop it from completing the original task it was assigned.)
Same guys were advancing a point of view that suggested that in the hunter AI scenario the hunter AI would keep spinning off evil AI to kill it because its mission is to kill evil AIs. If there's none left, it would create more to continue with its task.
AIs don't operate like we do.
