one of the online oil expert guys laid it out. Every barrel of oil is essentially 2/3 gas and 1/3 diesel when it's refined. So it's much harder to manipulate the price of diesel by using the reserves. They managed to do it for awhile but the demand for diesel is constant due to trucking so when the supply gets cut it gets felt faster and stronger.
He also pointed out the Iran war is a big reason for it because we use diesel in the war as does Iran.
FWIW he says diesel might hit 10 dollars a gallon if things don't shift quickly/
Ukraine absolutely is impacting the price by hitting Russian oil but not nearly as much as Trump himself did by starting a stupid war
