has to be RFK Jr.
I get the other ones as a criminal organization led by a foreign asset taking over a nation's highest office and spreading across a cabinet. So of course he will nominate a statutory rapist to DoJ, of course he will pick a Christian crusader to defense, of course he will place a foreign asset on top of the intelligence apparatus, of course he will place a conspiracy theorist on top of FBI and a sadistic psychopath on top of immigration enforcement, not to mention a corrupt gazillionire in charge of choking off all useful government functionalities. There will be more henhouses handed off to more foxes for sure.
But health is not political. Even a fascist dictatorship needs healthy population. To hand public health over to an insane antivaxxer who claims that the polio vaccine has done more harm than good is certifiably criminal. It is insane from any angle you look at it. This is the ultimate case of closing the umbrella in the rain because you're not getting wet.
ONe of humanity's biggest achievements was our ability to push back against deadly or crippling diseases one after the other. If heart attacks and cancer are the leading reasons of death for adults that's because we successfully pushed back against a lot of diseases and claimed that space back so that we can get old enough to have a heart attack and develop cancer. That's a monumental achievement.
And for this a**hole who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, who has god knows what parts of his brain eaten by a brain worm, who is a lawyer and not a medical professional to come out and minimize all this achievement because he is an entitled imbecile just blows my mind and offends me to the core.
Fluoride in water has been one of the most successful and effective public health projects ever taken. I didn't come up with that line. A libertarian/conservative I used to clash with frequently on this forum, who also happens to be a dentist told me that. I am probably not exaggerating too much when I say that we go to dentists mostly for cleaning these days and not to get our rotten, painful teeth extracted all the time, I gotta believe that fluoride in water has something to do with it.
I don't mind raw milk per se. We had raw milk all the time when I was growing up. You would have those guys roaming the streets selling fresh milk and if we're out, we'd call them and get whatever liters of milk we need and they would pour it for us in our containers. But what did we do immediately? We put the milk in a large pot and boiled it. (That cream that forms at the top when that milk cool down? [chef's kiss]). So I am not intrinsically against raw milk being available, but is this a society that is actually ready to consume that milk responsibly by boiling it first? No way no how. No chance in hell. This is not that kind of a nation. Instead, they will guzzle it down as healthy, organic, pure milk. And a lot of them will get sick. People will die. (It was that collective experience that taught people you need to boil the milk first. A lot of people will have to die here for this society to develop that very same understanding and re-invent the goddamn wheel.)
Just like the way Trump's pathetic response to Covid offended me at a deep, personal level, so does this RFK Jr nomination. People's lives are at stake here, and the health of a nation is being sacrificed at the altar of some rich f*ck's pathetic little ego.
The project to recreate the gilded age should not also include bringing the diseases of the gilded age back to life.
Tell me why I'm wrong.
