….At which point German rearmament was not fully activated and the Czech army was well equipped and had formidable defenses and favorable terrain. England and France likely could have inflicted a punishing defeat to Germany if the will existed to fight at that point. When Germany attacked Poland and then France 2 years later, it was after a long and full mobilization and decisive interval of German rearmament by which it had attained dramatic military superiority.
The analogy to Russia and Ukraine is very imperfect. Nuclear weapons didn’t exist in 1938. Russia is not Germany in 1938 and Western European powers don’t have the persistent centuries of diplomatic, historical and treaty obligations which enmeshed Europe and France in Czech affairs.
