My standard is clear. Nobody is above the law. But nobody should be targeted by the law for political reasons.

The Trump University cases are completely legit. They were brought in the early 2000s and 2010s before Trump originally decided to run for President and there is no evidence that they were brought for political reasons. They were also not novel legal theories. Other for profit universities had been sued under similar allegations of fraud.

I don't know enough about the Trump charity case. It was brought in 2019 by a Dem NYAG. I would have to look into how many other charity cases were brought by the same office or if it appears Trump was specifically targeted. My understanding is a ton of rich people set up these types of charities and many of them utilize them improperly for personal gain (i.e. paying salaries to relatives etc.) I suspect that Trump may have been targeted for political reasons. That said the settlement amount was reasonable ($2 million) so this was before the time where Dems went full blown insane with $65 million punitive damages in a defamation case (Carrol case) or the victimless $350 million fake "damages"(NYAG Trump Civil case) obvious lawfare verdicts.
