In terms of socially I agree.
I know the community college system. I could put my kid in contact with the best counselors who would help him navigate transfer.
At the end of the day, I think the most long lasting things I got from UCLA were friendships. I'm paying for my kid to have 4 years with the same friends rather than 2. That's an extra $70K to $80K.
Of course, we are talking about a UC so it will likely be 5 years. :)
