I wouldn't denigrate high school drop outs that way

I mean plenty of high school drop-outs are perfectly intelligent people who can do great things and have the ability to think through a proposition. People drop out of high school for a variety of reasons.

The inability to think through a proposition is a separate skill, one that does not require a lot of education. It's something people learn in the specific job they do, but being able to apply that grasp of how to think through point A to point B to point C in novel areas is a cognitive skill that does not require education or training. It requires some general intelligence, which most people have whether high school graduates or not, curiosity, which a lot of people lack, and humility that you may need to do some learning on how things work in general, which is a skill lacked especially by educated people.

Two things that bug the hell out of me in the fights that go on this forum (and elsewhere) and people start hurling insults: (a) claiming that a person who puts out a dumb argument must not have gone to college (or UCLA, in this case) and (b) the person who puts out dumb arguments must be a poor person who lives in a trailer or whatever.

Every time I hear these, I cringe. People advance stupid ideas because they (a) don't think through what they they're saying for whatever reason, or (b) don't have enough understanding of the topic to see what they're saying is stupid, or (c) it suits them to say stupid things they are in the business of selling something, whether that's a tech product, a used car, or a point of view is merely incidental. And none of these have any direct connection witrh one's education level or their income.
