Sticking with tennis, but going back a ways... what about Renee Richards?

I remember as a kid some controversy (pronounce it in the...brih-ish... way for authenticity) over the authorities allowing her to play on the women's side. Once she started to lose regularly to the women on the tour, the controversy went away.

But what if she didn't lose?

This topic could have come to a head 50 years ago.
