To me it's much simpler. If Jan 6 wasn't an insurrection how come when they charged Trump with inciting an insurrection for the 2nd impeachment, more than 50% of the House and Senate, INCLUDING Republicans in both houses, said he was guilty? Why did both Mitch and Lindsay say he was guilty of it but they were acquitting to let the courts handle him?

DC says hey the liberal judges agreed with the SC on the ballot issue why doesn't he care just as much that Republicans in both houses said it was an insurrection?

The way the amendment is written it did NOT say they had to have charges a trial and a conviction, it's not created that way. Congress voted and said it was in fact an insurrection, not enough to remove him as impeachment but enough to activate the amendment clause. The SC saved Trump, they said there has to be a trial and a conviction and there wasn't, and there's not even rules set up to create one. They created a scenario where it was impossible for Trump to be held accountable.
