2) The news was strictly reporting, very little bias in the reporting of the news. They were opinion shows but they were not mixed in with the regular news.

3) but the thing my young mind remembers the most in those times was the almost complete lack of emotion in reading the news. It was a talked about moment when Cronkite or Hundley/Brinkly slipped up and smiled. To see an example of this check out how Cronkite reported the Kennedy assassination. He is chocked up and takes off his glasses, but he is utilizing a superpower to keep his emotions for the most part reigned in.

If I recall, the threat of the FCC (?) making you create content to balance the scales was a huge threat at the time. They didn't need the government making them make a show when they had their own shows to put on and make money.
