on the glorious Israeli settlements turning practical deserts into fertile farmlands, back in the 70s, for instance, news programs were also forced to give some time to Palestinian farmers who came on and said "hey, we've been doing the same thing on the same land for centuries, but now you have these guys taking our farmlands for themselves and pretend like they invented agriculture or that no one used to live in these lands before they took them from us?"
Seriously doubt it.
There were still some "standards" and a range of acceptable range that the opposing viewpoints had to belong to, correct? So mostly a "yay, taxes" vs "boo taxes" kind of shallow level of "fairness", correct? Coz that's more or less the spirit of SNL counterpoint, from what I've seen.
