When i was a youngster - my middle school years - a neighbor who was at USC was a total track buff and we'd always go on and on about UCLA vs USC which was the nation's foremost track and field rivalry of those years. Seaman was true running royalty, among the top level of elite runners threatening the four-minute-mile barrier. He came so close in college - the second fastest mile ever by an American at the time, led UCLA to a national championship - finally did break the four minute barrier later on - after Barrister and Landy did it on the global scene. Sad to hear this - Bobby Seaman has died at 88 after some years of struggling with Parkinson's. Story on the Official Site
