Our ability to drive the baseball vanished today. We were either swinging at thin air or fouling off pitches. The OK pitcher's pitch kit was something to marvel at. Her pitches had more movement than a room full of belly dancers. They were weapons of our destruction.
When Maya Brady goes 0-4, something's wrong. I believe Charlize Palacios went 0-3. Only a few of our hitters made good contact with the ball.
The OK pitcher had two things going her way: 1) good speed, and; 2) incredible ball movement. And I should add: 3) a roomful of high-average hitters, most of whom were kept in check by our pitchers and fielders, all of whom did a wonderful job.
Our batting lineup doesn't have a "murderers row" like OK, or the 1927 Yankees. When our few heavy hitters can't track the ball, then we're in trouble, as we were today.
I'm proud of our young ladies. They did what they could with what they had, but it just wasn't quite enough. They were in it until the third out in their half of the 7th inning, unlike FL who were run-ruled out in the 5th inning.
Go Bruins!
