more patience than I have. Years ago i used to lie awake listening to Vin Scully call the games. You could tell our pitcher was losing it - fewer strikes, some hard hit balls. I would be telling Vin and the Dodgers - pull the pitcher - New, Sandy, Don - whoever it was. He's about to get hit hard.

Sometimes he would. Get pounded that is - the pitcher. The manager always stuck with the pitcher too long. In my view.

But the manager is coaching for the long haul not just this one game. In college that means handling young kids the manager knows really well - and as a fan I don't. She or he is managing for tomorrow and next year and the year after - developing the team and each individual on it. But the good ones - they have incredible patience. That won't ever be me. And the good ones wind up winning a whole lot of games.

In this case - yes, Grasso waiting too long - I think - but with really good results for her side - gave up only 4 hits in spite of all our impatience

one down, one to go - two for Texas - try again tomorrow, ugly unit and all
