#6 UCLA trailed #5 MSU by 7/10s of a point. In the final rotation, the Spartans scored a 49.000 on beam and the Bruins responded with the best score on floor in the nation this year, every performer building on the one before as a crowd of 10,681 roared and a national viewing audience watching on Fox looked on.
Lee started it with a 9.875 Malabayo got a 9.900, then McGowan got a 9.950, Moors 9.975, Campbell 9.975 and, needing to score a 9.925 to win the meet for the home team, Jordan Chiles came through with a 10.000. Score was 49.800 (out of a possible 50.000).
Note: a score of 9.975 means one of the two judges scored Moors' and Campbell's routines a 10.000 while the other judge gave it a 9.95. Score splits the difference between the two scores.
