just watching (not very closely) when people start, my impression is the coaches think that Terry as opposed to Fisher is our ace pitcher. And just watching results, I can't figure out how that might be the case.
Sure she's a good pitcher and sure she's got more experience than Fisher, but the only possible reason I can think for that at this point is just saving Fisher for the end of the season, getting her as much experience as they can while not overworking her.
Guess I have two questions: #1: isn't Fisher our clear ace pitcher by this point? and #2, I remember years and years past your ace would pretty much pitch EVERY key game - including just about all of them during the women's World Series. And they'd do it without losing their effectiveness much at all. That's not how it seems to work today. Why not?
(Note: as I write this Oregon has scored 2 in the first and 2 more in the third off Terry after Fisher completely shut them down in the middle game of the series yesterday - not the opening game of a key series and not the closing rubber game of a key series - a top five series no less - but the middle game. The difference seems very clear....)
Thoughts????
