In view of your last observation, that we have two of the best power hitters in the country, I was surprised in the first inning of today's game v s Nebraska - which has a terrific pitcher in Bahl - the Nebraska pitcher struggled a bit early, gave up a run. During the inning Grant - one of those two power hitters - was grazed on the gloved hand by a pitch. Nothing was called. UCLA challenged the call and, as a result, Grant was awarded first base.
I was surprised because - believe we had a runner on base - that decision took the bat out of the hands of one of our two great power hitters. Obviously there's a solid benefit to getting another running on base but I think I would d be tempted to go ahead and let Grant bat it out before Bahl, the B1G player of the year, settled into her groove and started moving Bruins down.
