While they do a good job of technically explaining why it might not be a good shot, there are problems with this analysis. Like any other shot in basketball, one can't just say in general its a bad shot so don't take it. Whether to shoot it or not depends on the individual player, some are good at it, some not and the defense, some teams defend it better or worse than others.

But the their numbers are even more misleading. They show a scatter plot of 2-point percentage vs frequency of shooting floaters, but the percentage is for all 2-pointers, not just floaters. I suspect there are other factors much more correlated with 2-point percentage, such as offensive rebounding and/or an inside game. They just emphasize a few outlier teams and I don't see the numerical correlation for all the data anywhere and if it's significant. But worse, looking at the graph, the average number of these shots taken per game is around 3-4, not really enough to make a big difference. If one team shoots 40% on them and another shoots 50%, that's a difference of much less than one make a game.
