Purdue lost 78-65. As an exhibition, this game may not tell the whole story, but they didn't look like the best team in the country.
Uncharacteristically, they didn't shoot well from the floor or the arc, at 39% / 18%. Of the big three, Kaufman-Renn was the only one who shot well. Loyer was 3 for 15 and Braden Smith was 3 of 9.
More concerning, the rest of the team, after the big three didn't play very well. Their highly rated transfer Oscar Cluff had 1 point in 22 minutes. Their 7-4 center scored 9, but virtually all of it was in garbage time.
It was just an exhibition against a very good Kentucky team, but none of it gave me confidence that Purdue will run away with the Big Ten or end the Big Ten's drought of National Championships.
