is an empty position. The two guys playing it (three really, but it doesn't look like we'll see much of Peoples) don't impact the game very much. I can see that Booker may have nights where he scores a lot, but in terms of playing the 5 he just doesn't have much presence. Same is true for Jamerson except for him there may be nights were he gets a lot of rebounds - maybe. Like I said, it's early and the 5 appears to be a work in progress so we'll see. But right now I think we may see a lot of Bilodeau at the 5.
Perry is sort of in the same boat. He just doesn't have much of an impact on the game. Right now I think I would like to see Freeny being the first guard in off the bench. He impacts the game in various ways and is more aggressive and seemingly more confident than Perry. Having Perry and either Booker or Jamerson in at the same time gives the Bruins two empty positions on the floor.
Last night to me the most effective players were Dent, Clark, Brown, Bilodeau, Freeny, and Williams. When Dailey gets back they'll have a nice 7 man rotation. I think Kyle would have fit nicely into that group - too bad he left.
Right now, to me, it looks like the Bruins' fortunes are tied into just how far Dent, Clark, Bilodeau, and Dailey can carry this team, and how much Booker, Perry, and Jamerson can improve. Brown could be the "x" factor here.
The reason some of us, myself included, thought Jamerson was ahead of Booker was reading between the lines as to what Cronin was saying about these two. Cronin tends to talk up his players early in the season. Perhaps a motivational ploy? In reality the 5's are all works in progress and they look like they need a lot of work.
This is all way way too early so we'll see how it all evolves. Fingers crossed. IMO Booker needs to find some fire. The time is now! What are you waiting for? Booker is going to make a lot of mistakes as he learns how to play an inside 5, but IMO he should just get after it and throw caution to the wind. I can see there's potential there. From my distant vantage point it looks like he just needs to get out of his way, turn his head off, find his heart, and let his body start to unleash that potential that seems to be there - be aggressive, play confidently (fake it till you make it if he has to), make mistakes, keep going, and learn. The Bruins' fate, as to whether they are a good team or a very good team, may depend on it. Come on Booker, the Bruins need you.
