I like what I saw last night. 9 guys who can contribute…

… (to at least some degree) at this level, and 10 once Dailey is back. Doesn’t mean we’ll necessarily see a 10 man rotation, but the depth and athleticism is there.

Bilodeau showed that he’s ready for his senior year. 19 points on 8-10 shooting (3-3 from the arc), 8 rebounds, and 2 assists to ZERO turnovers.

Same can be said for Dent, who scored 16 and had 8 assists to just 1 TO. He’s also 15-18 from the charity stripe, in the two exhibitions, and creates his own shot well.

Brown can do it all, from what I saw, and that includes defense. He scored 13 on 5-9 shooting (3-6 from three), and added 3 steals. A double-double on his 10 rebounds. He was everywhere on the floor.

Clark should continue his strong game from last year. Of a little from long range (1-4) but we know he’ll hit those, and he ade up for it by being 5-6 inside the arc.

Perry was a bit disappointing. He handled the ball a lot in the 2nd half, and did end with 3 assists to only 1 TO. But he could not finish, from inside or out. 1-8 from the floor, he also missed 2 that he flipped up from layup range after getting fouled on the drive. Hopefully he can focus more on finishing, or do more dishing when he’s in. The potential is still there, IMO.

I’m not as down on the two bigs as others here. Yes, far from perfect. But the effort and athleticism is there, and I see them both getting better as the team plays together. Booker 2-3 from the arc and 22 from the strope was nice to see. 12 rebounds between them. Jamerson with 2 blocks.

Williams looks much like the player he was 2 years ago, which means he can contribute. 9 shots is probably too many for him, but the 7 rebounds contributed nicely. He won’t hurt you when he’s out there.

I was pleasantly surprised with what Freeny could do (5 points on 2-6 shooting, 5 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals . A lot of energy. My sense though is that he’s working to hard to show what he can do, and needs to bring himself into the system fold a bit more. My hunch is that with more PT, that will happen. A nice to have, along with the others on this team.

When Dailey Jr comes back, it will be hard to find minutes for some of these guys. I could see Bilodeau, Dailey, Dent, Skyy and Brown playing 140mpg, effectively That leaves 60 to share amongst Booker, Jamerson, Williams, Perry, and Freeny. Assuming the two bigs will need to play at least 30 of those, that’s 30 or less to share between Perry, Freeny and Williams. I might be OK with that.

Looking forward to the opener.
