Not many people are talking about Nebraska as a factor in the Big Ten, but when they beat #8 BYU 90-89 in an exhibition, maybe they deserve some more attention.
The game wasn't as close as the final score, but Nebraska almost choked the game away in the final 2-3 minutes, missing free throws and relatively easy shots.
The are led by 6-8, 7th-year senior Reink Mast who missed all of last season. Mast scored 31 and was 7 of 8 on threes.
Connor Essegian never met a three-pointer he didn't take and scored 20 while going 5 of 10 on threes.
Pryce Sandfort comes from Iowa and is another very good outside shooter.
Overall, Nebraska looks like an excellent shooting team, shooting 50% / 47%. Rebounding may be a bit of a problem, however.
Berke is still there. It is a bit amusing listening to announcers find new ways to butcher his name. Berke looks stronger and starts for the Huskers. He is solid and a good defender.
AJ Dybantsa is amazing. He scored 30 and definitely made me think of Kevin Durant. He can score in just about any way you can imagine, and seems unstoppable. It may be strange to say about a guy who scored 30, but he probably needs to shoot more and be willing to take over a close game.
My big takeaway is that Nebraska will not be an easy game, even if we do get them at Pauley.
