Pepperdine opened their season against Life Pacific University, not to be confused with Pacific Life Insurance.

The Life Pacific Warriors are an NAIA team. Pepperdine beat Life Pacific 88-80.

Life Pacific also played Pacific (not to be confused with Life Pacific or Pacific Life), losing 83-56.

Pepperdine is picked to finish 11th in the 12-team WCC.
