There’s a lot knew for this team, and that can take time, including:

— so many transfers learning to play with each other
— Guys like Dailey and Dent missing time
— Returnees playing in different roles

My son used to play a lot of pick-up ball with 5 other kids when he was in HS. He and his best friend were the last 2 cut from the HS team, while the other 4 made the squad. Yet, when the two who were cut played 2-on-2 against any of the others, they won virtually every time. Why? Because they had played together the most, by far, and knew each others’ tendencies.

I’m not explaining this point to people here - you guys already know. But it puts a face to the point as a single example that is no different than, say, a mid-major starting 4 seniors and a junior (pre transfer portal).
