you're most welcome, mikeo. My pleasure.

Back several years (or a bit more), a friend - UCLABB - commented that watching women's basketball was like watching a missed layup drill.

He was right back then but that is far from the case these days. So much has improved with the women's game. The shooting is spectacular - the Bruins have two players hitting about 50% of their 3 point shots right now looking since the first game or three of the season. There are very athletic plays now and competition is fierce - no longer one or two teams only at the highest level. Both offenses and defenses are more complex.

Plus, teams with the highest talent and skilled stars are every spot on the court just don't come around that often. Our women's team is such a team, composed of players seemingly without egos whose motivation is the success of their teammates and the entire team.

We have a PG who just registered an assists to turnovers ratio of 11:1. A team anchor and leader who registered another double-double 20 points and 12 rebounds from the guard position. A center who is a very mobile 6'8" tall (by her own statement) and is the national defensive player of the year who has added a very effective mid-range jumpsuit to her arsenal. An All American guard-forward who has lately led the team in scoring while also being a key rebounder and passer and who routinely picks up the opponent's most dangerous scorer on defense. And it goes on and on.

Seven McDonald's All Americans on a squad of 11 players. And a coach who has built her program along the lines of that of her mentor, John Wooden. Cori Close may not be the in game coach Geno Auriemma is at this point, but her program is currently right up there with anyone's.

Anyway, following this team is good fun and it's always very nice to watch success happen to kids one supports and follows. Last year we lost only to two teams in the regular season and we beat one of them when it mattered most, to win our conference championship. We lost to the NCs in the national semifinals and during the regular season we actually defeated the team that lost to the same team we did - UConn - in the national finals. So far this year we have a single loss (and we're playing a lot better since then).

Welcome aboard!
