As has been stated before...this is a big year.

Bottom line: can he win? I feel like I’m pretty mellow when it comes to calling for a coaching change. Under the old system, things were pretty clear—we knew there would be rebuilding years every now and then, especially after a good run. Once a team developed, it was mostly upperclassmen, and they had their run, I was willing to live with a down year. But the landscape has changed.

On the positive side, to the best of my knowledge, Cronin has done a solid job raising NIL funds. That’s now part of the job, and all indications are that he’s good at it. He’s landed players like Bilodeau, Dailey, Sky, and Dent. Guys who should give us a real foundation. On paper, we should be pretty good.

But when I look at the trajectory, I just don’t see us competing for a conference championship, let alone a national championship. And most, if not all, of these players will likely be gone next year. So who’s left? Freeny? Williams? Perry? That sounds like another rebuild to me.

Then factor in the inevitable outbursts—because we all know those are coming—and it’s hard not to wonder where this is headed. I’m not on the fire-him-now train, but I’m definitely starting to question whether this is sustainable, or if we’re just signing up for an endless cycle of resets without ever getting close to the top.
