Especially the Arizona loss - whenever we ran 5-out, we got garbage, but if we ran horns or something else, we got good shots. the main thing I think is that we're so damn afraid of turnovers that we don't break down a defense in it (5 out generally means you need dribble penetration or a post up pass to break down a defense) and just sit around the outside, with no movement, and sometimes lazy passes which are telegraphed and turn into fast break points for the other team.
And I didn't really look at it last year in terms of the set, but it was generally our default offensive set, and we got a ton of garbage shots last year too.
With Dent, Perry and Clark all being good-to-great guys off the bounce, they NEED to be attacking early, but CMC really, really has discouraged that for most of his UCLA career. We do seem to be doing it more this year tho, but it's a mindset that both the player and coach need to have.
