PG play is critical going into the tough conference schedule

Going into the tough Big 10 schedule, I'm quite concerned with the production of our "pre-season" All American PG, Dent. Not performing as a Bruin like the same PG I saw last year at UNM--for whatever reason (injury??, confidence?? tougher competition??, style of play??, etc)

Granted, the potential is certainly there. He is an excellent assist PG but when your PG is the worst three point shooter on the team at a ridiculasly low 8% and only a mediocre free throw shooter at 61% plus only an average defender, if things don't change significantly, you are destined to have trouble when you get to the very tough teams Bruins will have to face. It may come down to the point where the Bruin's defense and offense is better served by the bigger and more physical guys (Clark and Perry) handling the guard positions against the tougher offensive teams like Purdue, Michigan, Illinois, Michigan State, etc.

Hope I'm wrong on this feeling I have as I have always been a fan of Dent. Hopefully, Dent will get past whatever issues that are causing his current problems and will start to perform up to the capability he showed last year. I believe we will need him to be not only a good assist man but a reliable scorer/shooter to be up there with the top Big 10 teams. Mentally and with his BBIQ, he is certainly the best PG on the team----when he performs up to his potential. Hopefully, his somewhat improved performance against Washington was a positive indication of things to come.
