Agree, men's team is very interesting with all the stories/players journeys etc. Don't like these 5 star, hero schools, actually, and prefer to see the continual b-ball struggle which is now UCLA's. Most people in this culture, don't succeed, but their struggle to survive and achieve is heroic. Why celebrate the winners, really? The UCLA message today, I think, amplifies John Wooden's adage about just being the best version of. yourself you can possibly be.....given any situation.
How UCLA tries to keep their program visible, is high drama.
Cronin is both interesting, and frustrating, for me. His apparent anger/disdain for the "immoral/unethiclal NCAA," and the state of 'amateur college b-ball' in 2025 makes him interesting. How he " maintains" during the tension-filled, after-game interviews is sort of heroic. Lol. (Well, he" maintains" but doesn't cover his antipathies fully.). However, His tired tone, coupled with his dripping, knowing sarcasm, is frustrating. And unnecessary. It's interesting to follow his particular emotional journey of becoming a UCLA head coach and the special pressures it implies even after all so many years since the program's great success. He is just maybe a frustrated 'old school' teacher-coach. LOL. And their type is disappearing. So, the season is very very interesting.
