UCLA beat Notre Dame 86-70 on January 3, 1976. It was an unusual game, probably the last time a Saturday day game followed a Friday night game in Pauley. It was unusual because it was the last time we beat Notre Dame in Pauley until the 1981 season. It was unusual because Bartow didn't make a substitution for the first 28 minutes and only becaue Andre McCarter was shaken up after a collision with Adrian Dantley. It was unusual because Digger Phelps had his team hold the ball for five minutes without taking a shot before halftime. But it was most unusual because it was the last time we had a game in Pauley and I wasn't there.
