Create a foul out of nothing. I remember reading about it somewhere in the early sixties in Sports Illustrated. Calls to mind a quote from Harry S. Truman - "The only thing new is the history I don't know." He probably got it from someone else, like John Wooden's "Failure to prepare is preparing to fail" which he got from Benjamin Franklin.
