Under this coach's leadership and program management, UCLA basketball has become largely an afterthought. By year eight, a UCLA coach should have the program firmly established as a yearly contender, not treading water and waiting for an impact transfer to save us. It's pathetic.
My read of things is that the expectations for this program are simply much lower now than at any time over the past few decades. Alford didn't exactly move things forward, but he did leave a dynamite roster for Cronin. Cronin squandered any momentum from that Final Four run, and he's now having the kind of success he had at Cincy. But we are not Cincy.
I'm curious how long those who post are willing to wait for this coach to achieve anything. It's obvious he's not going to contend for championships at UCLA, and it's frustrating more fans refuse to acknowledge this.
