The "elite" university is a laughingstock. And it deserves to be. They elevated identity over merit and they got more identity and less merit. Suck on it Ucla.
Undoing this will require one of two things. One, Ucla can abandon their social justice arrogance and return to a merit based culture that predated Guerrero and the last two chancellors. That is a heavy lift.
Or, two, they can sell the team in a revenue share agreement and be done with it. The second option may be inevitable at this point.
In any case, the status quo is broken, and Ucla broke it. Frenk needs to fire Jarmond and have the new committee source a new AD who will then hire the coach.
The new AD must be 1000% focused on football. All the Olympic and country club sports get from here on out is lip service. They're great for the parents but nobody else. Literally, no one cares.
The ball is in Frenk's court. Let's see how he plays it. There's little in his background to suggest that he will "get" this and do the right thing, but, on the other hand, he isn't drenched in Ucla's acidic, corrosive culture and has little personally to lose in flipping it.
