I agree the sequence of events could be better. I had the same thought as you as soon as the announcement re: the committee came out: can't fire him now.
But I think the situation has deteriorated since Saturday. UCLA tried to take the minimum amount of steps to placate fans and donors, but soon realized things were much worse than even a week ago. After Saturday it became clear there will be no re-set under Skipper, and the odds of going 0-12 shot up dramatically.
The buzz around Jarmond now is similar to the buzz around Foster after New Mexico. In fact I think it's even more vociferous, because whereas Foster was liked, Jarmond is almost universally despised.
