came the year after we choked at ND and wasted a phenomenal game by our DE's. On passing plays, ND was having their center immediately swing out and block one of our DE's. I've never seen that.

Anyway, the home game, my recollection, as always is fuzzy. ND was bad. I, like everyone, was hoping for revenge for out choke at South Bend. But, iirc, we were down to our third string QB (Rashaan?). The newspapers were reporting that Rashaan had gotten every snap in practice to try to get him ready. The back up (aka fourth string) was Big Mac - McCloud Bethel-Thompson. 4th string, now second string, no snaps that week in practice. My friend was sitting next to his parents. They told him that they were praying that he didn't get into the game because he was completely unprepared. Well....I don't recall what happened to the starter (Osaar?). But, Big Mac had to play from early in the 1st quarter. He looked like a guy that didn't even know the play book (I'm sure he knew the play book). Dorrell's extremely complicated offense didn't help matters, I'm sure. But, we looked like we couldn't even run a pass play, let alone complete a pass. Terrible game.

I'm not criticizing the decision to give all the practice snaps to Osaar - what else could you do in that situation? And, I'm certainly not criticizing Bethel-Thompson. Just a bad bad situation.
