I would only add, that very few coaches have a good record against Top Ten teams. Can PSU find one of those guys to replace him or someone who will have a worse record?
As for him being not directly involved with players, Bear Bryant spent his practices on an elevated platform. He could observe, but he had little interaction. I think that sucessful coaches have had very different management styles.
